Innovating Oceanography Through Student Research

At the Student Seaglider Center, undergraduates lead real-world oceanographic research using autonomous Seagliders—planning missions, piloting vehicles, and analyzing data from Puget Sound to the Pacific.
With your support, we empower students from diverse backgrounds to gain hands-on experience, advance ocean science, and build careers at the intersection of technology and climate research.
Your investment fuels discovery, education, and a deeper understanding of our changing oceans.

Together UW Campaign
Your support can help propel our team’s ambitions, taking our gliders from the protected waters of Puget Sound to the vast open ocean. Last year, thanks to your generous funding, we successfully deployed a glider off the coast of Hawaii for six months, opening access to a region we had never been able to study before and providing invaluable scientific insights.
In the coming year, we are preparing missions focused on El Niño and large-scale ocean change across the Pacific. We are seeking support to make these critical research efforts possible!
