Autumn Newsletter 2025

This quarter at the UW Student Seaglider Center (SSC), our focus has been on preparing the fleet for the OTTERS test deployment this winter and the long-term Pacific mission planned for summer. Both students and mentors dedicated significant time to refurbishing existing Seagliders and integrating new additions into the fleet, ensuring each vehicle is fully mission-ready.

In autumn SSC experienced delays, technical challenges, and rough weather limiting the quarter to a single deployment, our team adapted quickly to unexpected issues and worked collaboratively to ensure success. Students demonstrated strong teamwork, rapid mobilization, and improved technical and communication skills, emerging more capable and resilient.

This period of careful preparation lays the groundwork for deeper exploration and stronger data collection throughout winter quarter and the months beyond.
